Rock gives children, on a silver platter, with all the public authority of the entertainment industry, everything their parents always used to tell them they had to wait for until they grew up and would understand later. - Allan Bloom

Happiness is a new CD

November 8, 2006

Even though there are no Beatles songs on my new beanie, I thought I'd go with a variation on one of their songs for my title.

Anyhoo, I came home last night after a rough day to find my lovely beanie from Evilcow in my mailbox! My camera isn't working properly, so you'll have to use your imaginations, which I know we all have!

Inside the envelope was a card with a picture of a sunshine on it. I have to write what Evilcow said in the card because it made me laugh:

"Hi Sharon! At long last, here's your Pamie Beanie! Sorry it's late! Silly life getting in the way. To make up for it, I made you a CD of the happiest, silliest songs I could find. So instead of thinking 'Darn that evilcow and her lateness!' you will be filled with happy thoughts of joyful smilieness. (It's a word, I swear!) Enjoy the joy!"

Aww. So cute! So without further ado, here are the contents of the beanie. I know most of the artists, but haven't heard a good chunk of these songs before, or at least don't recognize the titles, so I'm really looking forward to hearing all the happy silly songs. :)

1. Tout le Bonheur du Monde - Sinsemilla (I love French!)
2. Girl on the Wall - Jane Clifton
3. Great Southern Land - Icehouse
4. Crazy in Love - Beyonce
5. Everyday is a Holiday - Esthero

7. Glory Days - Bruce Springsteen
8. Life is a Flower - Ace of Base (awww hell yeah!!)

16. A Little Respect - Erasure
17. Murder on the Dancefloor - Sophie Ellis-Bextor
18. I'm Super - Big Gay Al (South Park)

21. Iko Iko - Belle Stars
22. Wildflowers - Tom Petty

Damn I'm late

So I have received both of my beanies so far. And being the lame-o I am I am only ready to post about the first. Which was from the darling Ericka.

It's called "Babe" and has various "Babe" songs, but not like the pig, like the endearment. Anyway I love it - it's in my car and I sing along to it. Here are some pics.

The Telepathy Beanie

I swear to you people, this beanie I got was as if it were the twin brother of the beanie I sent.

Only more elaborated and prettier, because I am lazy like that, and CHICDEAC is fantastic and adorable.

She sent me songs that make her feel funny in the stomach, songs that make her dance and songs that she likes just because.

The theme she picked were international songs. Meaning, songs that talked about a state/country in them, or sung by international artists.

I liked it altogether, but I was surprised that she sent me Manu Chao songs, which is one of my favorite bands and even more thrilled when I heard she had included the song that came next to the one I sent on her beanie!

It was as if the stars and planet aligned together when we were making our beanie and we created two brothers separated only by distance.

God, that makes me sound stalky.

Chicdeac, I am very thankful for the beanie you sent. It rocks in so many ways is fabulous.

Many, many moons ago there was a Beanie exchange and it was good. What was not so good, however, was that one little Beanie recipient didn't post her most excellent playlist that was so excellently crafed by her Beanie Buddy. To remedy this I am now going to post the kick ass CD thewritegirl made for me... just under the wire before the next batch get posted. D'oh.

My camera had officially given up the ghost, so I just have to type it on out for ya:

The Mix:

1. This Year/ Chantal Kreviazuk
2. Ice Cream/ Sarah McLachlan
3. Bad Day/ Powter
4. Ruby Blue/ Rosin Murphy
5. When I Fall in Love/ Lisa Addeo
6. Jubilee/ Alison Krauss
7. Just the Girl/ The Click Five
8. Pure Imagination/ Maroon 5
9. Turn it Up/ Save Ferris
10. Goodnight and Go/ Imogen Heap
11. Moon River/ Kim Scenlon
12. I Do/ Jude
13. Walkie Talkie Man/ Steriogram
14. Somebody’s Miracle/ Liz Phair
15. Sister Kate/ The Ditty Bops
16. Fell in Love with a Boy/ Joss Stone
17. Window Shopping/ Lisa Loeb
18. Follow that Dream/ Elvis Presley & The Jordanaires
19. Confessions of a Teenage Girl/ Bonnie McKee
20. I know What Boys Like/ The Waitresses

A Beanie from the lovely Loocy

I wish I could think of something funny to write right now, but my brain is a bit dead and I'm still listening to the songs I haven't already heard.

As you can see its a nice mix, I am especially grateful for #5. A song I've always loved, but never knew who sang it or what it was called. So thanks Loocy for an awesome beanie!!!!

I GOT A BEANIE FROM DOWN UNDER

Damn straight! As soon as I got it, I txtd the guys to let them know that I had gotten a beanie from Australia and yay I was all kinds of excited.

Is it weird that I got excited because my beanie was gift wrapped with AUSTRALIAN GIFT PAPER Y'ALL! how cool is that?

So I opened it and it had a nice letter that Julia send the beanie with which I found very thoughtful and in which she promised she will come and visit the California Girls pretty soon. So she better does it or else I am gonna have Mogster's Kiddo send him a lovely threat card. I'm just sayin'.

My beanie is fabulous. I waited to be able to take pictures and I am now listening to it, Julia's theme (even though she said she didn't really have one) is music that reminds me of my young years. MY young years, Julia. Of course I was older than you when I listened to the songs but still.

It is fabulous and I really am enjoying it and thank you very much and couldn't you have sent an aussie man with it? Seriously, how hard could've that been?
