A Beanie from the lovely Loocy
I wish I could think of something funny to write right now, but my brain is a bit dead and I'm still listening to the songs I haven't already heard.
As you can see its a nice mix, I am especially grateful for #5. A song I've always loved, but never knew who sang it or what it was called. So thanks Loocy for an awesome beanie!!!!

Damn straight! As soon as I got it, I txtd the guys to let them know that I had gotten a beanie from Australia and yay I was all kinds of excited.
Is it weird that I got excited because my beanie was gift wrapped with AUSTRALIAN GIFT PAPER Y'ALL! how cool is that?
So I opened it and it had a nice letter that Julia send the beanie with which I found very thoughtful and in which she promised she will come and visit the California Girls pretty soon. So she better does it or else I am gonna have Mogster's Kiddo send him a lovely threat card. I'm just sayin'.
My beanie is fabulous. I waited to be able to take pictures and I am now listening to it, Julia's theme (even though she said she didn't really have one) is music that reminds me of my young years. MY young years, Julia. Of course I was older than you when I listened to the songs but still.
It is fabulous and I really am enjoying it and thank you very much and couldn't you have sent an aussie man with it? Seriously, how hard could've that been?

Let me tell you that I was floored when I opened it. It puts my poor plain little beanie to shame. Anyways, here are a couple of pictures of what it looks like.
Such a pretty package!
Such a beautiful scrapbook that contained the CD as well as explanations about the songs.
There were many more pages in the little scrapbook, but I'm too lazy to post all the pictures of them. You basically get the idea though.
As you can tell, it's theme is love. It's a bit ironic, considering the state of my love life right now, but I do love it! Hee hee. I'm so punny. Thank you SO much Lily - it totally made my night to have this sitting in my mailbox at home. I look forward to listening to it this weekend!

Due to the fact that my house was filled with girls who like to talk as though they are in a wind tunnel and someone is sticking needles in their eyeballs, I was unable to check my mail all weekend. Coorolation: the high-pitched squee of happy, hyper girls is like a drug that makes me want to take a nap and jump up and down very fast and at the same time.
It wasn't until that I discovered my mailbox held some mail for me that was neither a bill nor something that might explode. It was a bean! for me! created by the very goofy Melissa!
My girlfriend that I would marry were it not for the fact that Lily would kill her and I like boys immediately popped the beanie in the shaker and started shaking her own beanie-maker self. It was ridiculously wonderful. Unfortunately for you, I was quite intoxicated, having spent half my day drinking cocktails and looking at jewelry instead of working... so... I didn't document the bean until last night after it had been tainted with my listening enjoyment.
The bean totally kicks ass, btw. as do all the very goofy comments and drawings decorating the bean. It is now perfectly clear to me that my presentation skills are seriously lacking and it's no wonder mofo didn't post any pics. I'm one lucky lady. :)

Okay. I've tried 5 times now, using two different methods, to post with pictures. (And I even checked to be sure it wasn't posted to my other blog by accident.) So for now I will post a description with pictures to (hopefully) follow later. Gah.
So I got my beanie from the crazy cool Debster. It arrived in a pile of junk mail, lodged under some IHOP coupons. It has a kicky pink plastic sleeve, and the front of the booklet says "Presenting Debster's Super-Duper Extra Fabulous Mix CD." And that's not hype people! It is super-duper extra fabulous.
The booklet is 20 pages of cover art and why she picked the songs she did. And without further ado, here is the playlist:
- The Blankest Year - Nada Surf
- Blacking Out The Friction - Death Cab For Cutie
- Makeover Baby - Collision Course
- My Apartment - Ben Kweller
- C Is The Heavenly Option - Heavenly
- Here's Where the Story Ends - The Sundays
- Bruised - The Bens
- Getaway (February) - Jen Trynin
- That's Just What You Are - Aimee Mann
- No Myth - Sean Penn
- Give It Everything... - The Blackbird Theatre
- I've Been Waiting - Matthew Sweet
- Disappear - Blake Babies
- Battle of Who Could Care Less - Ben Folds Five
- Leave the Biker - Fountains of Wayne
- The Best Thing - Ivy
- Take a Look - Liz Phair
- Funny Little Frog - Belle and Sebastian
- Friends - Small Factory
I really dig it, and I really want to get my pictures up. :( So I'll keep working on that. But thanks again, Debster. I really do love my beanie.
eta: Now everyone can appreciate Debster's artsy schmancy. The booklet is lovely - Lily

Sometimes Monday's aren't so bad. I got my beanie in the mail today!
Sure I've been so busy that I haven't had a chance to listen to it, but I will. I know some of the tracks and most of the artists on the cd. It should be a good cd to listen to while I drive down to Dodger Stadium.
EL YAY!!!!!!!!! F!
p.s. if i don't like it I've been told that I can suck it!

A Disgruntled Day That Turned Out to Be A-Okay (Sorry, I'm not so good at Poetry)
So I came home disgruntled from a long day at work with a whole bunch of chores to do (packing, cleaning, etc). Needless to say, I was not in the best mood. But then I opened my mailbox and saw a squishy packing envelope:
It was from Noe! I smudged out the addresses in this photo so no one can come after us!
I went inside and tried to open it, only to find that there were 2 layers of packaging:
Make that 3 layers, with a layer of bubble wrap around the CD. I guess Noe wanted to make sure that the CD did not get damaged in transit. :)
I finally got it open and the first thing I took out was a cool card:
Then it was time to look at the Beanie's contents:
On the inside of the cover, Noe wrote why she selected each song, which was very cool:
Here's a view of what she wrote on the CD:
I can't wait to listen to it! I have a 4 1/2 hour drive in my truck tomorrow and on Sunday, so I am definitely going to be listening to it on my way to and from Chicago. I'm so glad that I got it before I left. Thanks Noe!

Oh.My.God.
Amanda sent me not one, but TWO CD's. Manda's theme for my b-day music seems to be music that rocks my bum. Booty shakin' music. Shake the money-maker music!
Fantastic.
As I type this I am listening to the first CD, called 'lily's Brithday 2006 party CD'. It is fabulous and thankfully it will last forever and ever. Here are the songs:

- Psycobilly Freakout - Rev. Horton heat
- I think we're alone now - Tiffany
- Dance you Fuckers - Wall of Voodoo
- Shiney disco Balls - Whodafunk
- I'm a wild one - Iggy Pop
And then, the second one, called 'Songs for girls, Songs for boys'
- Not a Virgin - Poe
- Bad boyfriend - Garbage
- My kinda Lover - Billy Squier
- Toxic - Britney Spears (man. My trashy favorite evah)
- I'm qualified to satisfy you - dirt bombs
- Beautiful Stranger - Madonna
- I will try - Dramarama
- Try 5 times - Dramarama
- Detachable Penis - Kingmissle
- Four leaf clover - old 97's
- Trigger Happy Jack - Poe
- Never met a girl like you before - Iggy Pop
- I got a girl - Tripping daisy

Aww...shucks! I am very excited about the music. It is really awesome! I am looking forward to listening to both cd's today.
And the card was fantastic.
Thanks, Manda!
Your CD's rock my socks!

STRAIGHT AHEAD
This song has been on repeat on both my car and my work computer.
I want to learn how to dance like the robot on the video.
Where is my beanie?

My life hasn't been the same since Freddy introduced me to Etta James. Her voice is such a sensual, musty august afternoon, I have trouble keeping my clothes on.
Thank god.
